Do you like to cook? Airbnb seeks foodies for a culinary trip through Italy


The foodies They are celebrating, and not because Christmas is approaching (that too), but because Airbnb has just opened a new section of activities dedicated body and soul to the kitchen enthusiasts.

Stove experiences born with the aim of bringing travelers closer to the culinary traditions of families from all over the world, with the possibility of know more than 3,000 unique recipes in around 75 different countries: from learning the culinary secrets of a grandmother in Mexico City, to enjoying a session of traditional Uzbek home cooking.

Thanks to these activities, whose hosts include families, farmers and pastry chefs, among others, local experts can make known the meaning behind a place's food, teach traditional recipes and share stories in intimate environments around the planet.


To celebrate the launch of Stove experiences and also discover new culinary treasures, Airbnb invites all foodies to run or nominate your favorite chef to enjoy a unique gastronomic trip in Italy, where they will learn to refine their family recipe and make it known in an Airbnb cookbook that will be presented in 2020.

The 100 selected participants can study in the company of culinary experts such as chef David Chang and his mother, Sherri, during one of the four five-day courses that will be taught at the University of Gastronomic Science of Slow Food (UNISG), located in Pollenzo, northern Italy, at a site recognized as heritage of Humanity for UNESCO.


In addition to workshops, tastings, excursions and classes taught by UNISG teachers, participants will receive talks from some of the hosts with more reservations on the Airbnb platform, like the Italian grandmother Nonna Nerina, who frequently receives travelers who come to her home on the outskirts of Rome to learn family secrets after making pasta.

To qualify to be one of the 100 selected participating in the trip to Italy, Airbnb users who meet the requirements must submit an application or nominate their favorite chef applicants through Airbnb, where they will have to send a wording about how the passion of the aspirant and his family recipes make him the perfect candidate.

The application process will be open until December 24. The 100 participants will be selected by a court that will include representatives from Airbnb, Slow Food and the University of Gastronomic Science. Each of the four courses to which the winners will choose will have 25 places, which will start on June 15, 22 and 29 and July 6, 2020.



To celebrate the launch of the initiative in Spain, the presenter and actress Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo and her mother (also the actress Gemma Cuervo), will offer a Cooking experience very special in Madrid.

During the event, mother and daughter will share and cook their family recipes for these Christmas holidays with guests who sign up through the platform.

In addition, everyone together will taste the result in an informal meal, a unique opportunity to get to know two icons of the national cinema better!
